Network Security Management for Cloud Services

Network Security Management for Cloud Services Management Connection Instructions

You will need to connect to the VPN to manage the firewall and VPN service. In some cases, an exception might be configured to allow you to connect without the VPN but normally you must use the VPN.

You can manage the firewall/VPN either with SSH (command line) or with the ASDM (graphical user interface).  SSH requires a client such as Putty or the more modern Termius.  The ASDM is generally preferred choice for novice users.

1) SSH Instructions
  • On your local computer, download and install Putty, Termius or any other SSH client of your choice, if you don't already have one
  • Connect to the VPN
  • Enter the SSH Connection Address shown in the portal along with your credentials
  • Once connected, you will use Cisco ASA OS language to manage network security
2) ASDM Client Installation
  • Download and install Java from java.com on your local desktop computer, if not already installed
  • In a web browser, open the ASDM Installation Address shown in the portal which will download a java file
  • Open the downloaded java file and follow the instructions
  • An icon will be placed on your computer that will open the ASDM in java
  • Enter your username and password to proceed

If you are locked out of the VPN entirely due to a misconfiguration issue then you will need to contact CeraNet support for help.
